 Overview
Prime Time for Reading is an in-school and after-school program for first- through fifth-grade students and their parents. Using a literacy-based curriculum developed by Cleveland Reads, limited-English-speaking Hispanic students improve their reading ability, academic skills, and love of reading.
 

   
 What is the Prime Time Program?
This program offers:
  • exposure to appropriate reading materials,
  • personal copies of all books read, and
  • cooperative activities for students and parents.
   
 Why should a child participate?
  • The program improves reading and communication skills.
  • Children are encouraged to achieve higher academic performance.
  • Volunteers expose participants to classic children's literature.
  • For student's whose strength is Spanish, Prime Time improves their English language skills.
  • Participation encourage reading as a first-choice activity.

 How can adults get involved?
  • Volunteer

    • Server as a tutor for students before or after school. Chaperone a Prime Time activity or event.

  • Donate

    • Consider a donation to help Esperanza purchase supplies or support Prime Time activities.

  • Visit

    • Attend a Prime Time tutoring session or after-school event to determine what role is best for you.

  • Inquire

    • Contact Esperanza and ask what other opportunities are available.
